Traditional ceremonies held virtually
Videos were produced to honor and recognize Gadsden State students
A worldwide pandemic could not keep Gadsden State Community College from honoring and recognizing deserving students. Instead of hosting traditional, in-person ceremonies, videos were produced and posted on the Gadsden State website and social media platforms.
“Despite the spread of COVID-19, our students were still successfully continuing their education,” said Jackie Brehm Edmondson, director of Gadsden State’s Public Relations and Marketing Department. “We knew that honoring those who had proven to be successful students or graduates was important. Even though we had to do it from afar, these students still deserved the recognition.”
The Public Relations and Marketing Department produced “virtual ceremonies” for the 2020 Honors Day programs, the Student Support Services Awards, the Registered Nursing Pinning Ceremony and Signing Day for FAME students.
“It was certainly an honor for us to bring the ceremonies to families and friends through a virtual platform,” she said. “It was the least we could do under the circumstances.”
In addition to the virtual ceremonies, Gadsden State also hosted the first Virtual Spirit Week.
