A message from Gadsden State President Dr. Kathy Murphy

The 2021-22 academic year is winding down, and we certainly are excited about the wonderful improvements and changes we are seeing on all five of Gadsden State’s campuses. It’s time for us to take a moment and look back on an eventful 2021, a year that allowed us to once again see hope after weathering a global pandemic.

We welcome the opportunity to share with you Gadsden State’s accomplishments, milestones and accolades in the 2021 Annual Report. We want to celebrate the commitment, dedication and tenacity shown by our faculty, staff and students. You all are to be commended for a job well done.

In 2021, our College received a grant to fund the Educational Opportunity Center. The financial burdens caused by the pandemic were lessened thanks to the millions given to Gadsden State through COVID relief funds. Gadsden State students were recognized with academic awards and scholarships, including more AAMA scholarships than any other community college. Our FAME Program was recognized by AlabamaWorks with a regional work-based learning award. Faculty and staff members received several accolades from community organizations and industry groups. Our partnerships with the Cardinal Foundation, the Alumni Association, local Chambers of Commerce and community leaders continued to flourish.

I am proud of all of our accomplishments as we strive to always keep our students on a path to academic and professional success. Our goal continues to be leading our students to credential completion in an effort to improve the quality of life for themselves, their families and their communities. Their successes are our successes and we celebrate them!

Whether you are a student, employee, alumni or community supporter, I’m so glad that you are a part of the Cardinal Family! It has been a joy to Watch You Fly!
