Program, instructor receive Excellence in Education Awards
A Gadsden State Community College program and instructor were recognized during the sixth annual Excellence in Education and Teachers of the Year Luncheon on May 11, 2023, at 210 at the Tracks. Gadsden State is the presenting sponsor of the event.
“We are so happy to have such a strong partnership with Gadsden State,” said Christi Robinson, president and CEO of the Etowah Chamber. “Thank you to Gadsden State for your involvement with our awards ceremony and for supporting this event year after year.”

Veterans Upward Bound, a TRIO program that assists veterans in meeting their academic and career goals, received the Excellence in Veterans Services Award. It was presented to Linda Morris, VUB academic coordinator and recruiter.
The coveted Heart of an Educator Award, also sponsored by Gadsden State, was presented to Tabitha Bozeman, an instructor in the Division of Language and Humanities.
“The Heart of an Educator is exactly as it sounds,” said Robinson. “It is a category dedicated to the most passionate and caring in education.”
Teachers of the Year from schools in Etowah County, Gadsden City, Attalla City and area private schools were recognized. Each received a hardback journal from Gadsden State as well as an award featuring original art by K-12 students.
