Selection Process

The East Alabama FAME Program is selective. A limited number of participants will have the opportunity to be a part of this innovative apprenticeship program. Here’s what you need to know about the selection process:
  • Must apply to Gadsden State Community College and complete the FAME application and essay.
  • Students selected via the application process will participate in a face-to-face interview with participating companies in a panel-style interview.
  • There will be one interviewee and all employees (approximately 7-8 people) together at the same interview session.
  • After the interview, employers will contact successful students in a “draft-style” process to offer jobs.
  • Some employers may offer student employment starting in early- to mid-June to work production areas. If offered a summer position, the student must be 18 years old by June 1 to begin work.
  • FAME students start Gadsden State classes on the first day of the Fall Semester.
