Swoop Sprint

The Cardinal Foundation, a support organization of Gadsden State Community College, hosted the first Swoop Sprint, a 5k run, in March 2018 on the Wallace Drive Campus. Monies collected during Swoop Sprint 5k were used for student scholarships.

“The Cardinal Foundation exists to support the mission of Gadsden State and to provide opportunities for students,” said Steve Hildebrant, president of the Cardinal Foundation Board of Directors. “This event will change the lives of some of our students.”

The 5k run began and ended at the Beck Field House. Trophies were awarded to the top overall male and female runners. The fastest female was Eden Grimes, who clocked in at 23 minutes and 51 seconds. The top male runner, Riley Wilson, completed the 5K in 18 minutes and 35 seconds. Medals were also given to the Top 3 in each age group.

As a result of Swoop Sprint, a scholarship in the amount of $1,500 each was awarded to Caler Staub, Bella McCurry and Lisa Boone.

The 2019 Swoop Sprint is scheduled for June 16. Sponsorships are available.
