Scholarship Winners

The Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation announced scholarship winners at the Honors Day programs at the Ayers Campus and the Wallace Drive Campus. The scholarships are applied toward tuition, fees and books.

Anniston Rotary Scholarship ($500)

The Anniston Rotary Scholarship is worth $500 and is available to residents of Calhoun County who attend the Ayers Campus or the McClellan Center and have at least a 3.0 GPA. The 2018 scholarships were presented by Jennifer Maddox, a member of the Anniston Rotary Club, and Steve Hildebrant, president of the Cardinal Foundation. Winners were Haley Shaw and Courtney Wilson, both of Anniston.

 

 

 

Benjamin Steinberg Nursing Scholarship ($500)

The Benjamin Steinberg Nursing Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded to a student in the Nursing Program. This scholarship is in memory of Benjamin Steinberg. Students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, be a resident of Etowah County and accepted into the GSCC R.N. Program. The 2018 scholarship was presented to Sydney Middleton of Southside.

 

 

 

Cardinals Who Give Scholarship ($1,500)

The Cardinals Who Give Scholarship is a $1,500 scholarship awarded to a student with a minimum 2.75 GPA. This scholarship is funded by the faculty and staff who make a monthly contribution to the Cardinals Who Give fund. The 2018 scholarship was presented to Kentara Lee Blackwell of Gadsden.

 

 

 

Gerald Acker Scholarships ($2,000)

The Gerald Acker Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship awarded annually to a first-year and a currently-enrolled student in the Electrical Technology Program. Students must have a minimum 2.75 GPA. The 2018 scholarships were presented by Steve Hildebrant, president of the Cardinal Foundation, and Mark Condra, board member. The winners were Cole Beauchamp of Albertville and Caleb Wofford of Altoona.

 

 

 

 

Michael Scott Hatten Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

The Michael Scott Hatten Memoriap Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student currently enrolled in the Precision Machining on the Ayers Campus. The scholarship can be used to assist student with tuition, books and fees affiliated with courses specific to the Precision Machining Program. Students must have a 2.75 GPA. The scholarship was presented by Steve Hildebrant, president of the Cardinal Foundation. The winner was Abulkarim Zettili of Jacksonville.

 

 

Swoop Sprint 5K Scholarship ($1,500)

The Swoop Sprint 5k Scholarship is a $1,500 scholarship awarded to a student enrolled at any Gadsden campus (nursing or pre-med students excluded), a student enrolled in a technical program or a student enrolled at Gadsden State Cherokee. Students must have a minimum 2.75 GPA. Nursing or pre-med students are excluded from this scholarship. These scholarships are funded by the Swoop Sprint 5k race fundraiser hosted by the Cardinal Foundation. The scholarships were presented by Steve Hildebrant, president of the Cardinal Foundation, and Mark Condra, board member. The winners were Nadia Katbi of Gadsden, Nikkole Loyd of Gadsden and Baylee McGinnis of Centre.
