President's Message

As the president of Gadsden State Community College, I'm please to release the 2019 Annual Report detailing the wonderful accomplishments achieved by our students, faculty, staff and community partners. This report is a celebration of our students, a celebration of our employees and a celebration of community.

In 2019, we saw the signing of Gadsden State's very first class of Alabama FAME, a new program that was formed in partnership with East AlabamaWorks and seven area companies. The program gives students the opportunity to gain priceless work experience with a top manufacturer while also working toward an associate degree in a classroom and lab setting.

To further our commitment to workforce development, Gadsden State received a generous grant from the National Science Foundation that gives Gadsden State additional support to train skilled technicians in advance manufacturing through curriculum development and state-of-the-art equipment.

Gadsden State has worked closely with many community partners, such as the Alumni Association, Cardinal Foundation, local chambers of commerce and many non-profit organizations. We highlight some of those valued partnerships, which proves the commitment those in our service area have in the advancement of our College.

Though we are currently facing challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been proud of the response from our faculty, staff and students on their ability to adjust to alternative methods of instruction. So, as we look back on 2019, I am also optimistic that Gadsden State has a bright future ahead, one with a well-crafted pathway that will advance our mission and build the workforce to meet the needs of our community.

Accreditations

Gadsden State is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees. Several instructional programs have also earned profession accreditation or certification.
